ACPA Spotlights Latest Design Technology

ACPA was front and center at this year’s Southeastern States Pavement Conference with Eric Ferrebee presenting, “Modern Methods for Concrete Pavement Design.” Focusing on the use of PavementDesigner.org and AASHTOWare’s Pavement ME design program, he also reiterated the importance of migrating away from the AASHTO 93 pavement design system.

Hosted by the Southeastern States Pavement Association, the three-day conference began with transportation asset management plan and pavement & bridge performance (TAMP/PM2) discussions and business meetings, and panel discussions.  Technical tracks covering pavement management and pavement design presentations followed on the second day, and Eric participated in a program that included presentations by Prashat Ram of APTech*, and Cameron Murray of the University of Arkansas.

The annual event brings together pavement engineers from the southeastern region of the country to discuss pavement management, TAMP/PM2 rules, and pavement design-related issues.  Led by state highway officials, the organization counts as its voting members the state transportation agencies of Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia.
